About the Artist

The relationships in Claire Stufflebeam’s life inspire much of her artwork. She aims to immortalize her friendships in painting, working on small-scale canvases to convey the intimacy of cherished moments. Her most recent works deal with the bittersweetness of growing up. She depicts people in the “in-between phase”—definitely not kids, but not quite how she would have once imagined adults to be, either. She aims to capture the joy, drunkenness, and humor she has found in this phase of life. As her relationships change with age, her paintings serve as a touching reminder of those with whom she grew up. She hopes to connect to the viewer through a universal nostalgia for the freedom and the friendship of youth.

Born and raised in Colorado, Claire Stufflebeam currently produces artwork out of Boulder. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder. While attending CU, her work was featured in the show Collective Roots and she was honored as a finalist for the King Award Scholalrship. Currently, she is represented by Core Art Space Gallery where she has presented work in various shows including Portraits, Poses, Tableaux Vivants (2024), Core on Colfax (2025), and The Artist and the Garden (2025).
